Sad but True

Yes, it's true I'm closing the shop. After 4 1/2 years I have found that too many beaders like to buy online. While, many of my customers love the classes and the atmosphere of the shop there are simply not enough beaders to support the business. I've noticed a steady decline in shoppers and being told "I like to buy online". So, keeping up with times and the current business practices, I will be turning my webpage into an online store. My kits, projects and supplies will be available for those who like to shop at midnight. East Dundee seemed the perfect place to start a business in a quaint downtown area but alas only bars survive. So many of my customers have become friends and I hope to continue to see them as I would miss them terribly.

On the bright side, the freedom of not having a retail space will allow me more time for creativity and the making of jewelry. I am really very excited about that. I can't tell you how many projects and ideas I have floating around my head. I can't wait to get started. But first we are changing my current in home studio into a new and improved larger studio taking up most of the basement. I've got new paint colors selected and the area all drawn out on graph paper. As I told my husband, "I need to hit the ground running". I know that I will be so busy trying to stock up two stores with jewelry and filling my webpage with wonderful new kits and possibily step by step instructions with pics.

This is the perfect time and I am ready for change. I miss my kids and I miss my husband and, of course, miss my Nina. And speaking of change I'm dying my hair red in 3 weeks! Gee, I hope it takes.

I'm one of those persons that still likes to go inside a physical shop to look at and buy beads. It's too bad you are closing it down, but I guess you also found the silver lining to that. Wishing you the best of luck!

When you lie and backstab your best customers this is what happens. What goes around comes around and you are getting exactly what you deserve.

I guess someone is feeling very guilty! I guess all the gossiping and backstabbing that they were doing has given them a guilty conscience, so in order to make themselves feel better they have to lash out to try and make you look bad. You know who your friends are, and this person isn't one of them. (thank god)Your store is awesome and I will truely miss it.

I see great changes coming your way! You will take the best of Bella Luna into your new shop and leave the troubles of renting retail space off the beaten track behind you. 215 Barrington Ave isn't Bella Luna, you are.
And don't worry about Anonymous! What a coward! I don't even want to know who that was, but I'm glad I won't be seeing her anymore. Bet you are too.
Love you much!
Susan

on the other hand - it would sure make it so much more delicious to trash Anonymous if I knew who she was. (Sorry Deb - can't deny that that post made me mad!!)

Speaking of the anonymous comment...What a cowardly way of lashing out. It is amazing what jealousy, envy, and self doubt can do to a person. You truly are the most gifted bead store owner/art designer I know. This new venture of yours will flourish without the concern of parking and high overhead costs. More time will be given to what you do best-designing and helping others.
See you soon,
Carol

Hopefully anonymous comes back to read the comments of your true friends. It sounds like a very jealous person.

Although I will truly miss coming into the shop, like Susan said, it is not the building that made me continue to come back, it was the owner. Thanks Deb for all your help and patience working with me. I will see you Saturday.

Joan

Deb, we have been friends for many years and been through many things. I can't wait for this next chapter for both of us! I'm sad the coward had to post "anonymous", which is exactly why this person is no longer in your life in the first place and is "stalking" your blog with spiteful comments. That type of unhappiness will filter in all areas of this person’s life and hopefully someday they will figure out THEIR truth. You are gifted, talented, generous, respectful, and always try to set a good example. That sleepy little town has been lucky to have you in it. Narrow minded takers are the only people who would behave so disrespectfully. Pot calling the kettle black……

Derba - I was saddened by the news that you are closing your bead shop. I always felt so comforted by your Spiritual Presence & Beautiful Ambiance. You Radiate and Generate Creativity too! All those special qualities and more make up the Best Teacher, Designer and Great Friend that you are to your Customers and Friends. May those qualities bring you effortlessly through the next doorway - Your online business! May you also find your Creativity Florishing in your new found time away from the day-to-day ownership of the shop. Best Wishes and Don't let the Bead-Bitty's get you down!
Respectfully & Creatively Yours, Colleen

this is to anonymous:you were never her best customers. she took you guys in and tried to help you, and all you did was betray her. your negativity shows why you are not around anymore. sorry for my negativity but we are better off without these people. from all debs good customers and friends, we believe in you, deb, and support you.

New doors are opening, but how sad to close these! The neato part is that now EVERYONE will get to see Bella Luna Beads, not just those of us who walked in the door. Way to follow your bliss!

Wow, you must have mixed feelings about closing your shop. Sad but as you say lots more time to blossom. Good luck!
